I got it when I was watching The List yesterday. * ~ * “A woman gets lonely ... sometimes she can't wait around for a man to be reincarnated,” Scully trailed off. “I think we should notify the warden.” Mulder said nothing; instead he started the car and drove away from the house. After a few moments of silence, Scully looked over at him. His face was pensive and she reached out to touch his arm. He jumped slightly at her touch. “Hey, sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you,” she kept her voice low. “It’s okay. I was just thinkin’.” “That’s for sure. You were miles away.” “Yeah, I guess I was.” “Wanna share?” Mulder was silent again. Scully began to wonder if maybe he’d withdrawn again. Then he spoke, “Would you?” “Would I what?” she asked in confusion. Mulder spared her a glance as they stopped at a red light. She noted that his fingers started tapping on the steering wheel, something he only did when he was nervous or bored. “Mulder,” she tried to keep the warning from her voice. “Would you wait around for the love of your life to be reincarnated, Scully?” Scully was taken aback by the brutal honesty of his question. She swallowed reflexively, wishing he hadn’t asked. Wishing she didn’t have the feelings for him that she did. “I-I guess.” “You guess?” “I don’t know Mulder, it’s not like I’ve had a whole lot of opportunities for ‘the love of my life’ to be dead and come back,” Scully retorted, even as she realized that it wasn’t true. “Okay,” Mulder relented. He stepped on the gas as the light changed to green, and was silent once more. Once they arrived at the prison, Mulder silently turned the car off. He was about to leave the car when Scully touched his arm. “Mulder,” she whispered. He turned back to face her. She steeled her courage and took his face between hers and kissed his lips soundly. When they broke apart, she smiled. “To answer your question, yes. I would.” End! So, what’d you think? CatheyScully@the-pentagon.com or Scully@ga.prestige.net
